This guide provides an overview on ways to contribute to zodiac.wiki. Anyone is welcome to contribute to zodiac.wiki.

==How to create a zodiac.wiki account (and link your web3 wallet)==

You must create an account to edit zodiac.wiki. Contributions are automatically tracked through the MediaWiki software, but to tie your contributions to your web3 wallet, you must also input your Ethereum address (or ENS name) into your User Profile. 

1. Click on "Create account" at the top-right corner of the site<br />
2. Fill in the fields. <br />
3. After your account is created, click on "Preferences" in the top menu. <br />
4. Enter your Ethereum address or ENS name into the <code>Ethereum Address</code> field. <br />
5. Press "Save."

Please note that entering your Ethereum Address and/or contributing to zodiac.wiki in no way guarantees receiving or being eligible for token airdrops, mints, or other form of assets. ==How to contribute Patterns (5 steps)==

There is no standard template for patterns. How you write and format your patterns is ultimately your choice. Likewise, pattern subcategories are intended to be fluid and emergent. We welcome you to help shape how these patterns are presented and linked together.

Adding a pattern to zodiac.wiki is a quick and easy process. Here is a step-by-step breakdown:


1. Visit [[:Category:Patterns|Patterns]] and ensure your pattern doesn't already exist.
* If your pattern or a similar pattern already exists, you have the option to ''edit'' the existing pattern. Simply click the "Edit" tab at the top of any pattern's page.
* In the context of zodiac.wiki, ''patterns'' are called <code>Pages</code> and ''pattern categories'' are called <code>Subcategories</code>

2. Create a page for your pattern. Here are a couple of options to get you started:
* via a template: follow instructions on how to use a template to start your pattern [[Zodiac.wiki_Templates|here]].
* via Search: enter the title of your pattern into the search bar at the top right of the site, hit enter, then click the name of your pattern on the results page to "create the page."

3. Add your pattern into the editing field, using wikitext markup to stylize and format the text. 
* See the [[Zodiac_Wikitext_Cheatsheet|Zodiac Wikitext Cheatsheet]] for a table of the most common markup options for zodiac.wiki. 
* It is recommended to write and/or save your pattern outside of zodiac.wiki's editing mode, as technical errors and connection issues could potentially lead to lost content.
* There is no standard template for patterns. How you write and format your patterns is ultimately your choice. ''

4. Determine which subcategory or subcategories (a.k.a. tags) fit with your pattern and add to the bottom of your post. 
* Current subcategories can be found [[:Category:Patterns|here]]. 
* All patterns should have [[Category:Patterns]] at the bottom of the post.
* If you'd like to add a new subcategory, simply add a new tag.
* ''Note: Subcategories should be considered part of a fluid, emergent process -- i.e., none of them are fixed and all are susceptible to change.''

5. Add a brief summary of your changes to the <code>Summary</code> field, then click "Save page" (or "Show preview," if you'd like to review your changes before saving).

==How to contribute Library items (5 steps)==

To submit a library item, follow these steps:


1. Visit [[:Category:Library|Library]] and ensure your library item hasn't already been submitted.

''Note: The Library launches with a carefully considered selection of items. While the initial selection strives to emphasize quality, semi-evergreen items, it is ultimately up to the Zodiac community to help decide which direction the library goes.''


2. Create a page for your library item. The easiest way is to use the Library Submission template below (you can also find the template [[Zodiac.wiki_Templates|here]]).


3. Add your library item by using the Library Submission template.

* Copy/Paste the following URL into your browser's address bar: <code><nowiki>http://zodiac.wiki/index.php?title=Add_Title_Here&action=edit&preload=Template:Library_Submission</nowiki></code>
* Replace "Add_Title_Here" in the URL with the library item's title<br />
* Hit "enter" to visit the new custom URL, which will pre-load the Library Submission template for you to fill in.

Note: It is recommended to write and/or save your submission outside of zodiac.wiki's editing mode, as technical errors and connection issues could potentially lead to lost content.

2. Create a page for your story. The easiest way is to use the Story Submission template below (you can also find the template [[Zodiac.wiki_Templates|here]]).


3. Add your story by using the Story Submission template.
* Copy/Paste the following URL into your browser's address bar: <code><nowiki>http://zodiac.wiki/index.php?title=Add_Title_Here&action=edit&preload=Template:Story_Submission</nowiki></code>
* Replace "Add_Title_Here" in the URL with the project's title (e.g. ContitutionDAO)<br />
* Hit "enter" to visit the new custom URL, which will pre-load the Story Submission template for you to fill in.
